Washing Away Recycled Paperboard Problems

A company working with high volumes of recycled paperboard had a significant contamination issue, leading to print defects and frequent downtime for cleaning. An adhesive tape roll system would not be economical for this level of contamination, so Polymag® Tek proposed a Water Wash web cleaner for their Gallus press. This cleaner uses a pair of contact cleaning rolls that alternate between cleaning the web and being "washed" by a robotic cleaning head. Contamination is collected on a cloth roll for ultimate disposal.

The results:

Marked improvement in quality with run times increasing from approximately 40 minutes to over 10 hours, and additional systems ordered for multiple locations.
