Polymag® Stepped Traversing Web Cleaner System

Polymag's® custom “Wide Web Cleaner System” can clean webs over 160” wide; of any composition; thickness range of .001” to .060”; and web speeds up to 2000 fpm. The adhesive tape contamination collection rolls can be programmed to traverse and clean the highest contamination areas (ie: web edges) of the Polymag® Blue ContactCleaning Rolls (CCR's) more often than the center. The traversing tape can be placed into the step and clean (collection) or continuous cleaning mode. The tape rolls are mounted “shaft-less”, using spring-loaded gudgeons for quicker and simpler tape roll changes. Tape rolls move outside of machine frame for convent tape changes while the web is still being cleaned for non-stop operation.

Optional Cleaner Features

  1. Patented Oscillation of the tape and/or “CCR's” (Contact Cleaning Rolls). Oscillation increases the cleaning efficiency and life of the adhesive tape. The consumable adhesive tape life can be extended 5 to 20 times.
  2. Speed matching the tape rolls at higher web speeds to avoid tape skidding that can cause CCR damage and/or adhesive transfer.

When the system is in the Off mode both CCRs are retracted and neither roll is in contact with the moving web. Whether the Traversing Web Cleaner is in the On or Off mode, the web can continue to be transported through the web cleaner.
